Creativity is a quality present in all young children. Encouraging this creative expression is an essential part of this class. Each week your child will create and learn about  art with a hands-on, process- oriented art experience using every day materials while learning about basic art concepts and techniques, such as line, shape, color, space, texture, form and value. Children’s imaginations will soar during this fun-filled art adventure.

Become an explorer in the wondrous world of 3–D art. These very active builders will be arranging, stacking and gluing found objects, bending wire and wrapping fabric, painting and printmaking. Art projects are designed to involve the student’s total physical and mental attention within the creative process.

Variety is the Spice of Life, so…each week it’s something different: drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and clay. This multi- media class invites the students to explore a variety of materials while emphasizing individual expression.

If you like working with your hands, come join the fun! When children explore the sculptural medium of clay, there are always remarkable results! Basic hand building techniques including the pinch, coil and slab methods will be introduced. Instruction will be adapted to individual needs.

#Y 05 After School Drawing & Painting

Children use drawing and painting as their first written form of communication. As their attention shifts to the written word, often times the joy and spontaneity of creating their own images fade. Donna encourages each child to continue their exploration of discovering meaning and beauty in their own self-expression. Donna will teach the basic elements in the art of drawing; exploring techniques such as contour, composition and line variations using charcoal, markers, and  pencils. The student’s will then build on their drawing skills and begin painting! They will be introduced to basic watercolor and acrylic painting fundamentals.

#Y 06 Kinetic Sculptures:  Art in Motion

Through fun hands-on projects and activities, students have the opportunity to make art MOVE!  Watch your imagination come to life by designing and building kinetic sculptures. Students will explore this fascinating art form which contains moving parts which depend on motion for effect. The moving parts being powered by wind, motors or manually. The possibilities of integrating movement with artwork are nearly endless! Students will create wind-powered mobiles, motorized robots, marble runs and more.
